Emma Steele is a Fort Wayne native and has lived in District 84 since she was three years old. She graduated from Indiana University Fort Wayne with a degree in Geology and currently works as a freelance writer and community organizer. Within the Fort Wayne community, she organizes with the climate action group Sunrise Movement Fort Wayne and volunteers with organizations on the fronts of sustainability and social justice.
Emma is running for IN-84, because she believes her community deserves a representative that prioritizes the concerns of everyday people and takes direct action to solve the most pressing issues Hoosiers are facing.
"Indiana deserves 21st Century policies."
I’m running for State Representative, because the people of District 84 need representation that fights for them in the Statehouse. Our communities deserve a just and sustainable future, and I am dedicated to the fight that will make that happen. As State Representative, I will strive to serve my district by advocating for the rights of Indiana workers, fighting for full funding of our public school system, and working to solve the crisis of healthcare inaccessibility.
If we tackle issues like low wages, criminal justice reform, and environmental injustice, Hoosiers everywhere can have a just future. Through building the next generation’s carbon neutral economy out of well-paying jobs in renewable energy and green infrastructure, people in Indiana can thrive with a sustainable future for all. My mission is not to be a career politician, but to give a voice the everyday people of District 84 and make Indiana a national leader in quality of life.
